Title: Mobile Health - Revolutionizing Health via Transdisciplinary Research
Abstract: Mobile health (mHealth) represents a unique confluence of mobile technology and health. It seeks to improve health and wellbeing in ways previously unimaginable, by continuous monitoring of health status, rapid diagnosis of health conditions, and delivery of just-in-time interventions and personalized prevention programs, all in the natural mobile environment of individuals. mHealth promises to revolutionize health research, practice, delivery, and public policy, and opens up numerous opportunities for trans-disciplinary research in computing and health disciplines. This article describes current and future research directions in mobile health systems, discusses challenges in establishing safety, efficacy, privacy and security in mobile health, and reviews recent regulatory efforts.
