Title: Spectrum Signaling for Cognitive Underwater Acoustic Channel Allocation

Abstract: The underwater environment varies significantly from traditional electromagnetics. Many cognitive radio techniques that have proven effective in the terrestrial setting cannot simply be transplanted underwater. Furthermore the limited bandwidth and lack of FCC regulations additionally changes the approaches that can be taken. In this paper, we introduce spectrum signaling, an approach for distributed channel allocation for the underwater acoustic environment.
