Title: Heliomote: Enabling self-sustained wireless sensor networks through solar energy harvesting

Abstract: This paper presents the design, implementation, and performance evaluation of Heliomote, an efficient solar energy harvesting module for wireless sensor nodes. The key tradeoffs and design decisions impacting power consumption are described. Experimental results, obtained through measurements and actual sensor network deployments, demonstrate that Heliomote autonomously manages energy harvesting and storage, and enables self-sustained, harvesting aware sensor network operation.
